Twenty years ago, when Jacquie Bols opened Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering for business, we intentionally set our standards high.

We knew Indy’s catering scene was already well represented but -- we didn’t see anyone else talking about sustainably-sourced, Indiana-grown, and ethically-raised free-range meats, and organically grown greens.

Plus – we put that very important word “Gourmet” right in our name. We believed we could prepare and serve gourmet meals that taste every bit as good as they present – and be responsibly and locally grown.

Twenty years on, it feels good to be honored for our accomplishments especially since our customers AND the industry are bestowing these accolades:

Thank you!

That noted, we certainly aren’t resting on our laurels. We continue to expertly cater all kinds of private parties, from backyard bashes to thank you breakfasts:

Our meals come out looking beautiful, served at just the right temperature, and tasting delicious. Every time. Because our reputation depends on that.

We have some of the most wonderful and generous clients! One of our favorites often hosts a holiday party in December for just under 100 guests in her beautifully decorated home.

This year’s party had particularly festive décor, and a great mix of guests. We love doing holiday parties, working with our return (and first time) clients to create the right vibe – and the ideal foods and drink to suit the occasion!

Here’s what expert party planner David Jackson prepared for the evening:

Butlered Appetizers served just as guests arrived:

The bar was well-stocked with favorites, such as
Perrier Lauren Rose Champagne, Sauvignon Blanc, Rombauer Chardonnay, Pinot Noir Willimette Valley, French Rose, and Cognac.

David Jackson also prepared a special (very popular!) holiday cocktail. Our Christmas Poinsetta was a merry mix of Champagne, Cranberry juice, and Grand Marnier, served with Cranberries and Fresh Rosemary in these gorgeous glasses!

As guests progressed to a seated Main Course, we served

Caviar Cake with Melba Toasts, Imported Cheese Trays,

Dauphinnoise Potatoes with Shaved Black Truffles,
Multi Colored Baby Carrots Steamed with European Butter, Sea Salt Jumbo Asparagus with Wasabi Mayonnnaise
and Individual Brussel Sprout, Kale, Orange and Pomegranate Salad

No holiday party is complete without our famous Holiday Yule Log for dessert. We also offered Lemon Curd or Chocolate Tarts, Forest Gateau Raspberry Shooters, Mini Chocolate Cups with Raspberry Mousse, and Mini Fresh Fruit Tarts.

Suffice it to say, every      one left with a full stomach (yumm!) and lots of holiday spirit! Thank you, David!

Summertime is when more of us take notice of garden-fresh tomatoes, red leaf lettuce, cucumbers, dill, corn, basil, chives, eggplants, squash and more. And because we’re eating a little lighter as temperatures soar, we make more local and fresh, straight-from-Indiana-garden kind of choices.

Not to brag (well, maybe a little), here at Jacquie’s Catering, we do that kind of thinking year-round. We always make use of the freshest seasonal ingredients. We also keep our choices organic and locally sourced as much as possible – which is quite easy in the summer. You’ll see a lot of that in our crunchy take on summer salads.

Good for us – because we’re all about being ‘locavores.’ That’s always been important to owner Jacquie Bols. What’s more, because we pay attention to things like fresh farm-to-table eggs, cream and butter; in-season fruit and berries as well as Indiana honey, our summer desserts are absolutely amazing!

Here are a few of our swoon-worthy favorites – which we love to offer in smaller, summery servings:

Sometimes it’s hard to decide which of our summer desserts you and your guests will want the most. That’s why we recommend Jacquie’s Gourmet Dessert Bar. You can order all your favorites in guilt-free mini-sizes.

We almost forgot to mention how much we enjoy using fresh summer fruits and juices in our cocktails and mocktails. Those are always crowd-pleasers, too!

There’s still a couple of months of summer weather in Indy, so let’s enjoy the fresh bounty!

With a little know-how and a few tips from the experts at Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering team, you can pull together a terrific outdoor event now that the weather is getting nicer!

That’s right, we are caterers – and event planners, and have been in the Indy area for 20 years.

We understand the key to success is planning – for the unexpected – as well as what you can anticipate. Here’s what to do and when to do it.

Back up plans

Stuff happens. And rather suddenly. Make sure you have a back up plan in place in case:

The best parties are well planned-out, with no surprises – right up to the very end – so you can enjoy your event just as much as your guests. If we can help make that possible, just give us a call.

This was a festive holiday party for 90 – with tons of spirit and charm. The party was held from 6 to 10 pm at a beautifully decorated home in the Meridian-Kessler area.

The menu was as varied and dressed up as the guests! We began with lighter fare:

The menu began to get serious (and super tasty!) as late afternoon approached:

It was impossible to choose just one favorite, so guests didn’t! Instead, plates were loaded – and lots of conversations revolved around the food (which is just what we love to hear).

By early evening, guests were ready to slow down for something on the light side. Our hostess loved the idea of serving Lemon Lush Dessert ‘Shooters,’ so we accommodated!

We love to host big fun parties! Especially around the holidays. And this one was one for the books. A feast and a host to be remembered!

Happy holidays from Jacquie Bols and crew!!

Here’s how to assure your NYE party makes a lasting impression from the expert party planners and caterers at Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering:

  1. Wow your guests right up front! Set sparkling tea lights along the walkway. The main entrance should be a big wow with lights, a decorated arch of balloons, flowers, or themed décor.
  2. Choose a theme. Hollywood is a great NYE theme. Include old movie posters, stars hanging from the ceiling, a Hollywood walk of fame. Top Hats and Tails might include a top hat centerpiece at every table. Disco is always popular – make sure you add a disco ball and strobe lights.
  3. Music sets the tempo. Bluesy, laid back, or poppin’, make sure it can be heard from the entrance to the bar, tables, and everywhere in between.
  4. Choose your colors. Maybe it’s all silver and white. Or black and white. Pull the theme throughout your venue.
  5. Great table decor. Oscar statues at each table. Perhaps snow skies, or count down clocks, top hats filled with sparklers, blinking disco glassed… Check out Pinterest for great ideas you pull together yourself – or ask us for help.
  6. Lighting -- Use candles and spotlights for added drama.
  7. When it comes to food, be extravagant and absolutely do not run out! Be sure that serving tables are heaped with food. Add smaller cocktail tables for hors d’ouevres.
  8. Offer a specialty drink themed to your party. It’s a great way to cut down on your bar tab. If you are sticking to beer and wine, offer several types. Ask us for brand ideas and how much to have on hand.

When the evening begins winding down, set up a table where departing guests can also pick up a small memorable gift as they go.

On social media? Post plenty of pics and watch the fun comments roll in. Trust that your party will be talked about and remembered for a long time. Cheers!

This baby shower for 50 was beautiful, fresh and classy. Held in the soon-to-be grandparents’ lovely home, Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering was asked to cater a bevy of healthy, nutritious, and gourmet foods to appeal to a wide range of tastes.

We were happy to oblige. Here’s the interesting and contemporary menu we served:

Beginning with butler-passed hors d'oeuvres:

There was also a generous portion of Crab and Artichoke Dip with Flatbreads on the kitchen island.

In the dining room, Jacquie’s team set up:

We wouldn’t want any type of party to make do without a sweet dollop of desserts! So – we set out

There truly was something for everyone – from the soon-to-be-mom to the proud grandparents, friends and family.

Congrats!!

Did you know…?

Pulling together a sustainable event is a responsible, forward-thinking thing to do,” says Jacquie Bols, owner/operator of Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering. "It's also healthier," she adds.

Does going green mean a sparse, low-key event? Absolutely not. Eco-friendly events are growing in popularity and can be very trendy and chic.

Sustainable events and receptions can be anything from conscientious zero-waste affairs to opting for sustainably-sourced meats and locally-grown vegetables. Think small or think big. Florists, breweries, your venue, even rental companies can help you lower your carbon footprint. All you need to do is ask.

Here are some ideas:

Please join us in working toward local food sourcing, sustainable farm practices, and the use of organic, pesticide-free Indiana-grown foods.

We would be delighted to help with all kinds of ideas to keep your party green and your event earth-friendly!

Once upon a party, a small dish of some sort of light food served before dinner was considered a must. Its purpose was to stimulate one’s appetite and help provide just a little sustenance while drinks were served, and before the main course arrived.

Today, those old social rules are out the window. Appetizers have become popular in their own right. Now they are very often are served on their own and in greater quantities (and varieties) than ever.

At Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering, we love appetizers as a stand-alone party food because they set the tone for a party – relaxed, light and fun. Savory or sweet, served hot, cold or room temperature, meat heavy or meat-free, they just lend themselves to a good time.

Appetizer-only parties are especially fun for social occasions because you can walk around while enjoying tiny bites. They get the party started with mingling, a cocktail in hand.

Of course, presentation is always an important part about serving any party food. A party full of appetizers is also a good practical way to keep hosting costs down, whether you throw the party yourself or have us do the prep and serving.

Here are some fun appetizers we love to serve:

A fun theme and a little creativity (and fresh, great food) is all you need for your next appetizer party. Let the fun begin!

You could say Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering has always been just a little ahead of the curve when it comes to catering.

We embrace food and drink trends, of course, but what we’re talking about here is what we don’t embrace, and never have (in the 25+ years we’ve been around).

We have always said NO to chemicals, hormones, additives, institutionally prepared foods, and anything artificial.

Here are 10 things you won’t find in our foods:

What you will find in what we serve:

Regardless of whether it's a party for 100 or 1,000, our team believes in high-quality food, locally sourced, and prepared with as much attention to taste as to your health and wellbeing.

At Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering, this is what we’re all about.
