A tasty Sixpence open house

April 15, 2022Lauren Windle

It was a fine evening for an open house at The Sixpence, an elegant new event space at 4400 North 1000 East, in Whitestown.

This particular open house was especially for brides and grooms shopping for a wedding/reception venue, and to sample reception catering foods to help choose a caterer. Naturally, Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering participated -- we adore this venue!

Here’s why:

Sixpence is a family-run property on 17 acres of pristine farmland, boasting multiple options for both indoor and outdoor celebrations.

It’s also LGBTQ friendly, can support groups of 300 inside or out, and customized bar packages are available.

We recommend having an al fresco ceremony simply because there are so many gorgeous spots on the grounds. Afterwards, host a reception in the climate-controlled Barn, with soaring cathedral ceilings, custom chandeliers, and vintage-modern vibe offer the perfect blank canvas for a range of wedding themes and styles.

There’s also a great option for a rehearsal dinner at the Homestead, also on premises. The Homestead offers a renovated 1851 farmhouse, with a deck and a hot tub. It can be rented for the whole weekend (it sleeps 6) or added on to a package for day-of use.

Our menu for the wedding open house was varied and creative to suit our surroundings. Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering served:

  • 3-layer pesto torte
  • bourbon chicken skewers
  • watermelon stuffed with goat cheese and mint
  • asparagus risotto cakes
  • pork belly with fig preserves, and
  • micro greens and caprese salad lollipops

A tasty (organic and locally grown) tribute to a delightful (organic and local!) venue.
