Jacquie's says 'yes' to Farm-to-Table

Once you’ve said “Yes” to the dress (or the event, whatever it may be), give another big nod to the awesome Farm-to-Table movement.

Jacquie Bols, owner extraordinaire of Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering has been on board with the concept since beginning her work as a chef in the UK, southern France, Italy, Australia, California, and New York -- before coming to the Indianapolis area almost ten years ago.

“I’ve long been a fan of supporting local farms and small bakeries, cheese makers, meat smokers, and organic gardeners,” says Jacquie. “I believe in using ingredients that are fresh, organic, wholesome, sustainably produced, and come from nearby. I’m delighted that this approach is being endorsed by so many here, too.”

 Buying local meats, dairy and produce can take a little more research and more time, since we are not buying huge quantities at a time. But the process proves itself time and again when we serve our meals.”

  • When we buy from local producers, we know them. We are building connection and we can trust the quality of everything we buy.
  • We have visited the farm or the dairy or the kitchen. That’s powerful.
  • Locally sourced is better for the environment. Fewer miles traveled to get the food to its destination.
  • Sustainable farms use responsible agricultural practices that protect the environment, too.
  • Locally sourced absolutely means fresher, tastier, healthier meat, eggs, cheese, and produce.
  • Locally sourced means we are investing in the community in which we live, helping support Indiana farms and small businesses.

Farm-to-Table means healthier food, too.

  • Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering will not buy meats treated with growth hormones, feed additives or nontherapeutic antibodies.
  • We don’t buy meat from huge farms who treat their animals inhumanely.
  • Sustainably produced meat from pasture-raised animals generally contains less fat, fewer calories and higher levels of important nutrients like omega-3 fatty acids, beta carotene and naturally occurring vitamins and minerals.
