An elegant wedding reception tea to remember

When you know you want to plan a delightful small scale – but elegant wedding reception, a great place to hold it is the Propylaeum Mansion (1410 N Delaware St, mid-town). Now celebrating its 100th year, the exquisitely maintained facilities are well known for their original architecture and historic integrity.

It's the quintessential place to plan an event when details, charm, and tone are what you seek in a romantic and memorable event like as wedding reception.

As one of the Propylaeum’s designated caterers for more than a decade, it’s one of our favorite destinations – for all the above-mentioned reasons. So, we were delighted to work with our bride to be and her family to create a picture-perfect Saturday afternoon fall event for 75 friends and family.

The day commenced at 1 PM and concluded at 7, so there was plenty of time for guests to enjoy their surroundings, the wedding celebration, and afterwards, elegant pastries and high tea.

The setting was perfect for a 1:30 ceremony, which was followed by a cocktail reception. As those in attendance found their intimate, beautifully draped tables, they were served two different teas, passed and poured at the tables. Tea selections included Chai Spiced Apple Tea and Green Tea Pomegranate with Raspberry and Strawberry.

A light sandwich buffet was served after tea with a choice of

  • Cucumber with Cream Cheese and dill, on Granary Bread
  • Scottish Smoked Salmon with Lemon Butter on Sourdough Bread
  • Ham on Rye Bread with with Grain Mustard Mayonnaise
    on the side

A 3-tiered tray of pastries was then set at each small round table, including a fresh assortment of specially baked:

  • Chocolate Petit Fours
  • French Fruit Tartlets
  • Assortment of Macarons
  • Scones with Mascapone Cream and Strawberry Jam

At mid-day, guests were also served fresh Crudite and Imported Cheeses:

  • Red and White Grapes,
  • Strawberries
  • Dried Fruits
  • Raw Vegetables to include Broccoli, Cauliflower, Grape Tomatoes, Squash, Carrot Sticks, Zucchini, and Celery.
  • Served with Dill Dip, and paired with imported Crackers and Almonds

Guests loved the setting, the beautifully prepared food, and of course, the upscale-yet-relaxed vibe of the day. Perfect in every way!
