The beginning of a new year is cause for celebration – especially if you happen to work for the governor of Indiana. Governor Eric Holcomb saluted the great strides our state has taken in the past year with 90 or so legislators at his private residence earlier this month.
Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering was tapped for the occasion and asked to present a Hoosier-themed meals for every taste, from down home and hearty, to lighter fare, with lots of elegant touches. Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering’s own Event Designer, Mary Michael Coates, made sure there was plenty to choose from on this chilly Indiana night, much of it locally sourced.
For those wanting lighter fare, Mini Crab Cake Sliders with Caprese Salad Lollipops were just the thing.
Terrines of Pencil Asparagus and Goat Cheese Puree were served alongside Mini Mac and Cheese with Smoked Apple Cheddar and Proscuitto. A crowd favorite seemed to be Jacquie’s Meatloaf Cupcakes with Mashed Potato “frosting.”
Paying tribute to the lovely meats, produce and dairy our state produces, Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering also served a Trio of Local Organic Devilled Eggs with Microgreens, which tasted as yummy as it looked.
Maple Bacon – always popular – was wrapped around Chicken with Asian Glaze and Sesame Seeds.
Of course, no event is complete without dessert, and Jacquie didn’t disappoint the governor’s guests. Two gluten-free choices were offered, Mini Flourless Chocolate Triangles and Mini Apple Crisp. Small enough so no one could refuse!
The evening went smoothly, with guests talking about the bright year ahead – and left feeling very satisfied – perhaps in part because of a perfect evening and of course, a delicious dinner. A fitting tribute to those who work on behalf of all of us here in Indiana.
