An icy toast to the cool cocktails of summer

When the temperature starts to get toasty by 11 AM and the sun stays simmering well into the evening, nothing satisfies better after a long hot day than a sharing a cool specialty cocktail with friends.

At Jacquie’s Gourmet Catering, our bartenders are especially dexterous when it comes to creating memorable summery adult beverages. In fact, they are frequently tasked to come up with an original drink that expresses something about a particular corporate event, wedding reception, birthday bash, or anniversary. After a bit of research about the personalities of the people involved and a check of the inventory from our favorite summer herb gardens, they can be counted to come up with something fun and suitable.

Here’s a recent beverage concoction we think is delicious! From our Gourmet Bartenders -- straight to your back patio or deck. (It also is pretty easy to make for two – or twelve of your favorite friends and neighbors.)

Summer “Rum Through the Sprinkler”  

  • ½ shot White rum
  • ½ shot Dark rum
  • 1 shot of a favorite flavored rum (such as spiced pineapple rum)
  • 1 shot of Pernod or Anise liqueur
  • ¼ cup Lime juice
  • ¾ cup pineapple juice

Add all liquors and juices in blender full of ice and take it for a good spin. Let it settle, then stir in 1 tsp of grenadine and a dash of Angostura bitters. Blend again.

Pour icy mixture into tall thin glasses (PRO TIP: Put glasses into freezer for a10 minutes before filling to keep things cool and refreshing!)

Top with mint springs, cocktail cherries and a wedge of pineapple.
