Who can resist the radiant golden colors of fall! Crisp, vibrant, earthy and bright. They really do set the tone for a big bold fall event.
If you are in charge for setting up a fall reception, you know we can help you with the menu, the linens, the event site, and the bar, right? But did you also know we can help you with the flowers?
Yep! We can point you in the right direction of a florist who specializes in all things floral. And – we can also help you trim the price point if you want to make a statement – on a budget.
Here are some great ways to save money and get the bountiful fall centerpieces you want:
Keep your centerpieces season-appropriate. Buy them at a local farmer’s market or use cuttings from your garden. Put them in mason jars tied with ribbon or jute and offer them as gifts at the end of the party.
Don’t forget to plan for accessories: You’re going to need garden shears, lots of bows and ribbon, and even rubber bands to help hold things together. You’re also going to have to have all your vases and planters way ahead of time. Arranging flowers can take a lot of time – don’t be afraid of asking several creative friends for help.
Costco, Sam’s and BJ’s are your friends – as long as you can pull together a theme and arrange the florals yourself. Remember that fresh flowers have a relatively short shelf-life after being cut. Be sure to keep them in water, and preferably in a cool place (such as an on-premises refrigerator) until right before the event.
Don’t be afraid to use fabulous fakes! Consider silk florals from Micheal’s or Hobby Lobby. Bonus: You can re-use them and they last forever.
Our event planners also suggest mixing real with silk florals. Use the fresh stems as table centerpieces and the artificial ones on stage, in the entryways, and wherever else they need to make a big bold statement.
For weddings, make the wedding party bouquets and boutonnieres yourself – or with the wedding party. You’ll need more flowers than you think –but can be a memorable pre-wedding activity – and way more affordable than ordering from a florist.
Go minimalist with smaller amounts of stunning colorful flowers and pair them with a lot of candles.
Our event planners suggest practicing ahead of time if you are doing it yourself. Pull together some Idea Boards and try different colors together.
Most of all – make a statement and have fun with all the abundant floral and leafy colors of fall!
